V to the IRB

Just thought I would give everyone a little heads up on Virb a new social networking site. Its like myspace but looks way better and is much easier to use. It's new so it doesn't have everyone and there brother and sister on there but hey, I hope in time it smashes myspace in the ground. I joined myspace when it first came out and never used it for a long time because its sucked. Still sucks, then my friends at school all had accounts so I jumped on the ugly myspace bus and just never got why people flock to it. The only thing myspace has going for it is the enormous amount of users. Well come on over to where the grass is greener.

Monday Night Shoot

Last night our photography class went shooting in downtown Winston-Salem. Gotta say that we need to do that more often, it was so much fun. Really cold but thats the way I like it. I shot film all night so its iffy as to how they will come out. Chad let me borrow a couple of lenses and a flash. If these turn out well I may start shooting with my Nikon N80 more. All in all I think it was a great trip to really mesh the group tighter once again. We need to start our own camera club and schedule a monthly group shoot.
As for my film, I went by WalGreens this morning to get four rolls developed and the lady behind the counter was like "I don't know how to do negatives only." With that said I will take my business else where.

Bowl O Rama - Mama

Went bowling with D, Special K, Laken, Jesse, Jason, and some other guy. Had a blast. Plus I won both games. Trust me my score really sucked but I still pulled off the win.

Oh Snapz.

More postive things should be said about the Graphic Design program and our instructors. I'm not writing this in any way to be a brown noser. I think its due time for some positive comments. I love the design program at WCC. I feel fortunate to be one of the first to go through the program. I hope that I can be a strong representative of the program. Students don't realize but they are the face of the program to employers and future students.
I can't think of any other instructors on campus that will take the time to go over a question or let students hang out in their office when they have no other place to go? How many instructors go to lunch with their students? None that I know of.

To be honest Brian and Chads opinion should be the only opinion that matters in the classroom. If you don't value their input then you are missing out. The best thing that I have gotten from this program is their insight that they have earned from their real world experience. I say we all support our program and our instructors.

I'm sure everyone agrees with this. I just hope that it is heard more frequently.

The final show.

I went to Taking Up Arms final show last night. I had an amazing time. Zeb (correct me AD if I misspelled his name), Friday Never Counts, and Taking Up Arms played. I Shot all three bands with A.D.'s Canon XT. I finally got to meet the guys from Friday Never Counts and we talked over some design stuff for their upcomming album. I also saw Amber, Josh, and Beth there as well.

It was good to see A.D. in his element. He's earned an amazing amount of respect among the fans as well as the bands with whom he has played with. I just hate the first time that I saw TUP was the last time that will play.

Good times.

Why be bad when you can begood

AD and I found a small space above Talias that opened up recently. We were kidding around one day while talking about the different freelance work we were doing at the time. Some how it evolved to joking around about having an office etc etc and how it would be nice have the client come by there instead of meeting them somewhere or at our house. We never really thought that we would actually have one because rent is expensive not to mention a comercial electrical deposit alone is $600.

We are blessed to have the opportunity that we came across. Its a small space with just enough room for a couple of desks and a comp wall. We are called begood Creatives*. A thinktank of sorts in which we currently have a few corporate clients and several bands to do promotional work for. Anywho, I really really look forward to seeing everyone Monday. I just hope I get to hang with everyone some. I've also left staples and started Source 4. Its been very busy there. I love it. Great people with my own office but its just not as fun as begood.

Spring semester here we come!
